The annual York Community Pride Awards took place this year in the Ebor Suite at York Racecourse. The ceremony recognised the city's unsung heroes and was the culmination of the third York Community Pride campaign, which is run by City of York Council in conjunction with the York Press.

Courageous children, fundraisers and teachers were amongst those celebrated as the people who make York a better place to live. The awards were launched in February 2006, and the organisers were inundated with nominations covering the entire spectrum of life in the city, and last night was a fitting finale to the campaign.

The ceremony featured speeches from the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, The Press editor Kevin Booth, leader of City of York Council Steve Galloway and awards were presented by TV personailities Colin Hazelden, of BBC East Midlands and Harry Gration, of BBC Look North.

Harrisons have designed the set for the awards for a number of years and were delighted to be associated with the awards again in 2006. The set comprised vinyl wrapped panels, CNC cut stars and screen surround, branded graphics, all wrapped using eye-catching glitter-effect speciality vinyl. Harrisons were also responsible for the design, layout and build of the stage set, incorporating access ramps and stairs, as well as AV equipment supplied by Saville Audio Visual.
